Did you ever wonder what your options are when your furry family member gets sick with cancer?  Where do you turn?  How can you help your pet?  How can you afford to treat your pet’s illness?  How can helping to cure your pet also help to cure a human with the same cancer or illness?  These were questions I asked in January 2019 when my furry child Myko, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma – bone cancer.

We were fortunate that Myko has a wonderful orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Peter Lotsikas (Skylos Sports Medicine) who helped me with all the difficult decisions and who knew all the right people to help give Myko the best chance at kicking cancer and living a longer life.  Dr. Lotsikas got us in a new STING clinical trial with Dr. Kraitchman of the Center for Image-Guided Animal Therapy (CIGAT) at Johns Hopkins and he introduced us to Dr. Michelle Silver at AVIM who performed the carboplatin treatments.  Dr. Silver then informed me of FetchACure.org who provided funding for Myko’s treatments.

It takes a village to not only raise a child but a furry family member too.

This fundraiser is to give back to those that helped save Myko’s life and to also raise awareness to people who did not know about the many resources available to you when you are faced with the dilemma of a very sick pet.  So come out to help us thank those who might one day help you.

FETCH a Cure is a 501 ©(3) non-profit organization focused on improving the quality of life for our pets. Working with pet owners and the veterinary community, FETCH is furthering pet cancer awareness, education, and treatment.

Our vision is simple: A community where no one is denied a choice for their pet’s health due to lack of options, education or funding.

CIGAT mission: The Center for Image-Guided Animal Therapy is a not-for-profit center within the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. The success of CIGAT is dependent, in large part, on generous contributions and support from community members, veterinarians and animal lovers like you. Clinical trials can be costly and difficult, yet the benefits and information gleamed can change the way disease processes are diagnosed and treated both for animal medicine and human medicine. The Center for Image-Guided Animal Therapy is focused on studying animals with naturally occurring disease and striving to find improved methods for caring for these animals. Philanthropic support allows our veterinarians to pursue cutting-edge research and to translate that research into veterinary care of the highest quality.
